But I'm only the more grateful for The Bear and the Nightingale in consequence: I love winter with all my December-born Canadian heart, and I love stories that make me feel the full mythic majesty

Rather than a loving and 2019-02-24 · The Bear And The Nightingale was one of two books I chose to read for February because I wanted a winter theme to go along with the month. We didn’t get much of a winter this year and February has been strangely warm, but this book made up for that. Review: The Bear and the Nightingale (Winternight Trilogy #1) At the edge of the Russian wilderness, winter lasts most of the year and the snowdrifts grow taller than houses. The bear and the nightingale review

See my non-spoiler review here. Let’s deep-psyche dive into the good stuff of this first novel: The Characters and their psychology. As a therapist, of course, it’s fun for me to pick apart the psyche and analyze it. The first intriguing character: Vasya’s mother.

But Vasilisa doesn’t mind—she spends the winter nights huddled around the embers of a fire with her beloved siblings, listening to her nurse’s fairy tales. The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden . The Bear and the Nightingale is Katherine Arden’s debut novel from Del Ray Books. It may seem bold to say that this novel will be one of my top ten reads of 2017 (especially considering it was the novel I was reading as the new year began) but I am 100% confident that this will be one of the best books I read this year.

Joint Review: Lab Rat One by Andrea K. Höst The Graceling by Kristen Cashore and The Bear and The Nightingale by Katherine Arden.

It was a mere chance that I came across the book at all at my local library. Our librarian had recently read the book in the local city book club, and decided to buy the series for the library. The Bear and the Nightingale is a fairy tale, which in and of itself is somewhat rare in a genre lately dominated by epic high fantasy, military fantasy, and gritty grimdark. The story takes place in a medieval Russian village at the edge of a cold, snowy, and unforgiving wilderness. 2019-02-06 2017-01-29 2017-10-28 2017-03-08 2020-03-05 2018-01-22 2019-09-06 The Bear in the Nightingale is a book to read curled up by the fire drinking hot tea.

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden is a book that I’ve been seeing everywhere for a long time. I’ve wanted to read it forever. But for some reason it took me ages to pick it up.
